1. Question: Does PCI provide emergency medical care?
Answer: No, if you have an emergency go to the closest hospital ER.
2. Question: Who will see me after normal clinic hours if I am admitted to the hospital?
Answer: When an order is written by the PCI doctor for you that requires admission to a hospital you will be provided instructions and the admitting physician will be notified by PCI directly. Proceed directly to the hospital and notify them that you are a PCI patient at the ER. PCI works with a local group of doctors who work in all Hidalgo County hospitals.
3. Question: What are the clinic hours and where is the clinic located?
Answer: PCI is at 500 South Bicentennial (at Erie) in McAllen approximately half way between Highway 83 and Business 83 on Bicentennial Boulevard. The routine hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
4. Question: Does my insurance cover the visit to the clinic?
Answer: The insurance you have may cover the visit. However, the only way to know for sure is to come in to the clinic. We recommend that you enroll in the clinic before you need service to save time when you do need a doctor.
5. Question: Can I see a cardiologist or internal medicine specialist directly by appointment or do I have to be referred?
Answer: You can make an appointment by coming by the clinic or calling 956-971-0077 and ask to see the specialist. If after normal business hours leave your name and contact number where you can be normally reached. If you have an emergency go directly to the closest hospital
6. Question: What do I need to bring with me when I come to PCI the first time?
Answer: When coming to the clinic as a walk-in or by appointment, bring a list of all medications and the dosage (Mg) for each. You will also require some proof of insurance ID and can pay for services by any credit card.
7. Question: Can I have an employment or student physical at PCI and do I need an appointment for it?
Answer: Physical examination required for work or school normally are longer than a regular visit to allow for time for necessary tests. It is recommended that you call ahead to save yourself time by securing a specific appointment time.
8. Question: Does PCI provide immunizations for me and my children?
Answer: All immunizations are available at the clinic. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for this any all other medical treatment
9. Question: What is the age requirement for treatment at PCI without a parent or guardian?
Answer: To be treated at the clinic you will need to show proof of age and identity. The required age for all treatment is 18 which must be verified before treatment by a driver's license or student ID, social security card or other identification. Please insure that you bring proper identification to all visits.
